JOB SUMMARY

  • He/She will be supervising the security team, reporting to the General Manager or his/her designee and assist in implementing the Hotel Policies, systems and procedures that keep Guests, associates, and others safe while on and around the hotel property. He/she organizes the Security Department in such manner to fulfill the requirements for security as set forth by the safety Operational Standards as well as Brand standards and the local requirements and to advise the management on security-related matters. This position has also certain PR (public relations) functions to the local authorities. He/she is responsible to connect frequently with the decision makers within the local authorities and keep the General Manager informed on a regular basis about any significant issues. The Security Manager is also responsible for the safety and security of the hotel premises and property.


CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

  • The successful candidate should have previous security experience, preferably working within an industry which monitored large volumes of people movement. Previous experience leading and managing a Security/law enforcement team. In-depth knowledge of security related systems, practices, legislation, and latest technologies. The candidate must demonstrate excellent leadership skills; interpersonal skills; and personal presentation. He/ she should be computer literate and have a solid written and verbal English and Bosnian communication skills; high attention to detail; organizational skills; and full understanding of data privacy standards and legislation.


CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Managing Work, security budgets, and implementing safety policies

  • Oversee all security related matters in the hotel
  • Advise Hotel Management on all security related issues
  • Lead Security Team.
  • Review, regularly, all policies, systems, and procedures, including emergency drills and bomb procedures
  • Drive continuous improvement and enhancements to security standards
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with external agencies including police, fire authorities, and other related services
  • Coordinate and implement alert standards as assigned.

  • Establishes and maintains systems/procedures to ensure that both regular and irregular patrols of entire complex are completed to maximum potential.
  • Establishes and maintains the procedures to reduce any internal theft/loses, for employee locker control, for spot checks of employees carrying parcels when departing hotel property etc.
  • Coordinates investigation of all activities of crime, or any losses incurred against by guests, patrons’ staff, and outsourced service company in order to determine those responsible and proceed with any necessary prosecution/recover of losses.
  • Trains all employees in Security responsibilities.
  • Trains Security personnel in all Hotel regulations and all factors affecting the operations of the Hotel. Fire prevention and safety procedures, basic firefighting, first aid, swimming, and life-saving techniques, preservation of crime scene and evidence. Actions, duties, and powers where crime is detected, action in crisis situations, report writing, public relations, and psychology.
  • Supervises the daily processing and distribution of security reports to Management.
  • Prepares monthly major incident report and annual security survey reports and submits to the General Manager.
  • Keeps all records and reports concerning Security matters and Hotel business confidential.
  • Attends and participates in Safety & Security meetings and other staff meetings as determined by the General Manager.
  • Reviews internal policies and procedures on a regular basis to ensure maintenance of the highest level of efficiency and the best possible security, to make recommendations to the Management when policy changes are required and to evaluate on a continuing basis the possible threat to Security.
  • If Security is provided by an external company maintains very close contact with the contractor, the local supervisor.
  • Advises Management for efficiency matters regarding the contractor.
  • Acts as liaison between the hotel and any governmental agencies such as police, fire, and any safety regulatory bodies.
  • Maintains control of key inventories and ensure the proper whereabouts/existence of all keys
  • Controls access to critical areas where the need for access arises outside of normal operating hours for that area.
  • Co-ordination and information with the Engineering and Rooms Division.
  • In cooperation with insurance adjusters and insurance company, implements actions necessary to minimize any potential claims.
  • Ensures all staff is thoroughly familiar with the Hotel’s emergency procedures and is in a state of preparedness for any emergency which may occur.
  • Execution of regular technical/skills training. Is responsible for setting up and maintaining ongoing training programs in the Rooms Division in conjunction with the Personnel & Training Manager.
  • Reviews Duty Manager/Night Manager book daily and takes corrective action when security is concerned.
  • Reviews Security logbook daily and takes action if needed informs General Manager.
  • Is familiar with all related company documentation and especially with the relevant Operational Standards Manual for his/her field of responsibility.
  • Maintains all HR related documentation (vacation- and public holiday, departmental job descriptions for each job category, schedules, training notes etc.).
  • Supervises compliance with hotel rules and regulations and exercises disciplinary measures as needed.

  • Reviews and monitors daily schedule to ensure enough coverage.
  • Maintains key control.
  • Assumes responsibility of Duty Manager when scheduled to do so.
